The Vaporesso Luxe PM40 is a compact pod system designed for MTL and low-watt DL vaping. It features an 1800mAh battery, a 4ml refillable pod, and replaceable coils—offering great performance with less waste and long-term savings.
The Luxe PM40 is a compact, pocket-friendly pod system, measuring 96.5mm x 30.6mm x 21.5mm. It’s lightweight yet feels solid and well-built. While not as small as the Caliburn or JUUL, it’s more compact than other adjustable 40-watt pods like the Voopoo Vinci. The design is similar to the SMOK Nord 2.
It comes in several colors, including Jade, Lava, black, carbon fiber, and silver, all with a gunmetal frame and stylish IML panels. The device features a fire/wattage button, a 0.69-inch OLED screen for easy readability, and a sliding airflow adjustment for MTL to restricted DL vaping. The minimal branding adds to its sleek, attractive look.
Getting started
The Luxe PM40 is a simple, user-friendly pod system with a single button for all functions. Five clicks turn it on/off, and three clicks unlock the wattage adjustment. After unlocking, tap or hold the button to adjust the wattage, then wait for it to lock. There’s no auto-draw; you must hold the button to fire. The screen shows wattage, puff count, resistance, and battery percentage.
The Luxe PM40 comes with two pods and coils, plus an adjustable airflow slider on the back. Refilling is easy—simply push back the drip tip to reveal a large fill hole and a small air outlet. The clear pod lets you easily check juice levels until about 10%.
To remove the pod, just pull it out; it’s friction-fit, secure, and easy to handle. Coil replacement is simple with the GTX plug-and-play coils. Just remove the old coil, pop in a new one, and refill the pod. You may need to empty most of the pod before swapping coils, but a little juice can remain if done sideways. Overall, the system is intuitive and user-friendly.
Performance
The Luxe PM40 offers two coil options: a 0.8-ohm mesh coil (12-20 watts) and a 0.6-ohm mesh coil (20-30 watts). Vaporesso confirmed these are the only compatible coils for the device. Though 1.2-ohm coils are listed on their website, they aren’t available for testing.
Having used Vaporesso coils before, I started with the 0.8-ohm coil, paired with 50/50 20mg nic salt juice. The flavor was great at low wattages, around 12 watts, and the coil lasted for 20mL of juice, which is impressive for low-wattage vaping. Overall, it’s a solid coil for a smooth, low-power experience.
Next, I tried the 0.6-ohm coil with 70/30 3mg juice, and it worked best around 22 watts. I got 28mL of juice before the coil died, with solid flavor throughout. No issues here either.
The Luxe PM40 features “turbo boost tech,” which keeps the hit consistent as the battery drains, and it works well—you won’t notice a change until the battery is almost dead. It also has a five-second puff cutoff, which might be a minor limit for some, but most users won’t mind. A standout feature is that there was no condensation under the pod, even after extended use—a rare win for pod systems.
Battery life and charging
Battery life on the Luxe PM40 depends on the coil and wattage used. It has an 1800mAh internal battery, but I found the charge rate to be lower than advertised, maxing out at 1.43 amps instead of the claimed 2 amps. The actual battery capacity was also a bit disappointing—measuring around 1295-1353mAh, instead of the 1800mAh listed.
On the plus side, the 60-minute charge time is accurate, with tests showing 57-61 minutes to full charge. It also supports passthrough vaping, allowing you to vape while charging. The Type-C charging port is located at the bottom of the pod, under the screen.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Cons
Solid build quality
Lightweight and durable
Nice IML panels
Five color options
Nice bright screen
Easy to use and fill
Good capacity (4 mL)
Clear pods to easily see juice level
Adjustable airflow
Overstated battery capacity at 1800 mAh (should be 1300-1400 mAh)
Overstated charge rate at 2 amps (should be 1.5 amps)
CONCLUSION
Overall, Vaporesso did a great job with the Luxe PM40. While the battery and charge rate are slightly overstated—something common with many pod systems—the actual performance is excellent. The device itself works well, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new pod system, though I’d like to see more accurate battery specs in the future.
