The Digiflavor DROP V2 RDA: What’s New and Improved?

The Digiflavor DROP V2 is a 24 mm RDA with a sleek, space capsule-inspired design. While the original DROP was developed in collaboration with Brian from TVC, he wasn’t involved in the V2 or the V1.5.

The V2 features a drop-in build deck for single or dual-coil setups, replacing the “hoop” style posts with solid ones. It offers direct lung or restricted direct lung airflow, controlled via a smooth knurled ring. With a deep juice well, it’s ideal for dripping or squonking.

Does the DROP V2 live up to its name, or has Digiflavor taken a step back? Let’s find out!

Build quality and design

The Digiflavor DROP V2 features a space capsule-inspired design, distinct from the original and V1.5. It includes bold branding, with logos on the barrel, top cap, and base. The RDA measures 24 mm in diameter (22 mm at the base due to bevels) and 39.5 mm tall, which may not sit flush on mods with wide 510 plates.

The build deck, 21.3 mm in diameter, introduces solid drop-in posts, replacing the original “hoop” style. This design eliminates issues with post fragility and prevents cotton snagging caused by exposed coil leads, a common annoyance with the original DROP. While the finishes are appealing, the faintly worn logos may detract from the overall aesthetic.

The DROP V2 addresses issues from the original RDA, such as coil leads being pinched due to square post holes. The V2’s rounded post corners prevent this problem, even with flat tri-core Claptons. It’s well-machined with excellent O-ring tolerances and a smooth, non-removable airflow control ring, though cleaning it thoroughly can be challenging.

Airflow features two vertical rows of 3 slots on each side (12 total, 4 mm x 1 mm each), offering precise adjustments. Accessories include four N80 tri-core fused Clapton coils, shoelace cotton, a tri-tool, BF pin, extra screws, and O-rings, but lack a 510-drip tip adapter and coil cutting guide. A user-friendly manual is included, though lead-cutting instructions are omitted

Build deck and wicking

The DROP V2 features a drop-in style build deck with flat head grub screws. Positive posts are separated by a PEEK insulator, while negative posts are milled into the deck. Pre-cutting coil leads is required, but installation is straightforward—drop in the coils, tighten, wick, and you’re ready to vape.

Building

The DROP V2’s stainless-steel build deck has a 19.5 mm inner and 21.3 mm outer diameter, offering ample space for building. Pre-cutting coil leads simplifies installation, as the coils stay in place during setup.

Post holes are 3 mm x 2 mm with rounded corners, accommodating up to 3.5 mm coils for dual builds. For the included six-wrap coils, a 5 mm lead length works well. Coils can be positioned closer to the center or airflow, with lead lengths adjusted to preference (3.5–5 mm). While some claim better flavor closer to the airflow, differences are minimal.

Wicking

The included shoelace cotton is long enough to use one piece for both coils—just loop it through both and cut in the middle. Since the coils sit high on the deck, leave enough cotton on the ends to reach it. No need to comb the cotton, but for squonking, avoid overstuffing the deck to keep the BF pin hole clear.

Airflow

The DROP V2 features two vertical rows of three airflow slots on each side (12 slots total, 4 mm x 1 mm each). Unlike the original’s honeycomb and “T”-shaped airflow, the V2 directs air at the posts before it moves under the coils. Despite this design, the flavor remains excellent.

The airflow is smooth and highly adjustable via the knurled control ring, allowing precise tuning. Fully open, it’s very airy; halfway (three holes open per side) offers a balanced draw. While the ring turns smoothly and hasn’t loosened over time, it’s fixed and cannot be disassembled for maintenance.

DROP V2 RDA performance

The DROP V2 doesn’t feel like a step backward—it’s an improvement. The solid posts eliminate issues like over-tightening, breaking, and cotton snagging on sharp lead ends. Pre-cutting leads makes installation easier, and the rounded post holes prevent pinched or loose leads. While the original had its strengths, the V2 resolves these common (and maybe niche) frustrations effectively.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Good build quality
  • O-ring tolerances are perfect
  • Easy to build on
  • Good airflow
  • Good flavor
  • No leaking
  • BF pin
  • Beveled base (doesn't look good on some mods)
  • Top cap is not removable
  • Only one drip tip
  • No drip tip adapter
  • No coil-cutting guide
  • Length to cut leads not mentioned

CONCLUSION

While the original DROP looks better, the DROP V2 matches its performance and grows on you with use. The space capsule design and beveled base might not appeal to everyone, and the non-removable top cap is a drawback. However, the V2 delivers fantastic vaping. If you like the design or prioritize performance, it’s worth a try—you won’t be disappointed.
