Is the VAPORESSO TARGET 80 Worth It? Full Review & Test Results

The TARGET 80 is VAPORESSO’s latest box mod, marking a shift from their recent pod and AIO releases. It features a built-in 3000 mAh battery, a vibrant color screen, a versatile chipset, and a 5 mL GTX 26 pod tank. While the tank is the same one used in the LUXE 80 kit, it now includes a 510 adapter for broader compatibility. For a detailed tank review, check out our LUXE 80 article.

Build quality and design

The TARGET 80 is a compact, pocket-friendly mod with a solid feel, thanks to its “full cage” metal frame. Measuring 130.9 x 38.3 x 30.8 mm, it balances sturdiness and portability well. It comes in five color options—all featuring a satin gunmetal frame with textured colored panels.

The 0.96-inch color TFT screen is bright and clear, and simple branding adds to the clean design. A small lanyard hook under the 510 adds a practical touch.

Features and functions

The TARGET 80 offers three main modes: standard power, Pulse, and F[t]—both of which deliver power in pulsed patterns. While these feel more gimmicky than functional, I found regular power mode to be the most consistent.

The menu also includes DIY options like soft/normal/hard preheat, Voltage, and Bypass modes. Though it lacks temp control and watt curve mode, it still covers most essentials for everyday vapers.

Using the TARGET 80

The TARGET 80 is a pretty typical mod. There is a fire button and an up button and down button and a menu button. Basic operations are as follows:

  • Click the fire button five times to turn it on/off.
  • Click fire three times to lock the adjustment buttons.
  • Use up or down to adjust wattage.
  • Hold the menu button to cycle through the three power modes.
  • Click the mode button three times to enter the menu.

Battery and charge rate

The TARGET 80 charges via a front-facing USB-C port with a listed 2A charge rate. In testing, it peaked at 2.34A—faster than advertised—and fully charged in just 1 hour and 22 minutes. Passthrough vaping is supported, and while the mod shows full before it’s 100%, leaving it on for an extra 10 minutes is ideal.

The 3000 mAh battery delivered a usable 2715 mAh—only slightly overstated, which is a big improvement from past models. VAPORESSO seems to be tightening up their specs, and it shows.
