Is the Caliburn G2 the Best Pod System of the Year? Full Review Inside

Yes, it’s another Caliburn—but this one’s different. The G2 is the follow-up to the Caliburn G, part of Uwell’s more advanced line with replaceable coils. Unlike the simpler models, the G2 offers haptic feedback, a larger 750mAh battery, a new coil option, and—most importantly—fully adjustable airflow.

While the original Caliburn didn’t win me over, I’ve enjoyed every version since. Let’s see if the G2 has enough upgrades to make it worth adding to your collection.

Build quality and design

Unboxing the G2, it immediately felt like a blend of the Caliburn G and A2—textured sides like the G, smooth front/back like the A2, and a mouthpiece that’s both familiar and more comfortable. One big improvement is the dual-sided juice window, making it way easier to monitor e-liquid levels. The redesigned pods now support adjustable airflow (a major plus), but they’re not cross-compatible with older Caliburns.

They snap in instead of using magnets, with haptic feedback when inserted. Overall, the G2 looks and feels premium—especially in that eye-catching gradient color—and builds on the A2’s strong foundation.

Getting started

While the G line is aimed towards the more advanced pod users, the G2 is a very easy device to use. Here’s a rundown of basic operations:

  • Drip 4-5 drops of juice inside the coil.
  • Insert the coil in the pod with the flat side at the bottom of the coil pointing toward the red airflow mechanism.
  • Place the pod inside the device and push on the flat side of the mouthpiece to remove it.
  • Fill the pod by pushing the tip of your bottle in the red hole.
  • Let the device aside for 5 minutes for the coil to saturate.
  • Five clicks turn the device on.
  • Push the button or just inhale on the mouthpiece to vape.
  • If the draw feels too tight or too loose, remove the pod and set the airflow accordingly.

As for the device’s haptic feedback, the G2 will vibrate when:

  • A pod is inserted.
  • The device short circuits.
  • The battery is low.
  • Your puff lasts for 8 seconds.
  • The device is plugged in for charging.
  • The device has fully charged.

Performance

The G2 works with the same UN2 coils from the original G—0.8Ω, 1.0Ω, and a new 1.2Ω option. The 1.2Ω coil is ideal for stronger nic salts, the 1.0Ω for mid-strength juices, and the 0.8Ω delivers the best flavor with lower nicotine. Thanks to the adjustable airflow, you can fine-tune the draw—open it up for a cooler hit or even a restricted DL vape with the 0.8Ω coil.

Coil life is solid, averaging 20–25mL per coil, depending on juice sweetness. In terms of leaking or flooding, the G2 held up well—even after sitting unused for 10 days, it stayed dry. Some minor spitback at first, but nothing major. Overall, performance is consistent and reliable across the board.

Battery life and charging

The Caliburn G2 charges via a bottom Type-C port and fully charges in just 25 minutes—much faster than the original G’s 45 minutes. Paired with adjustable airflow, it’s one of the G2’s biggest upgrades.

It has a 750mAh battery (up from 520mAh), but real-world battery life varies. With the 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω coils, I got around 2.5mL per charge, while the 0.8Ω coil pushed that slightly over 3mL—not quite the 50% boost claimed, possibly due to the haptic feedback feature.

Worth noting: once the battery runs out, the G2 stops instantly—no extra puffs. A warning vibration before shutdown would’ve been nice. The LED indicator lights up with each puff and shows battery levels using three colors.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Great build quality
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Sleek looks (a blend of the G and the A2)
  • Comfortable mouthpiece
  • Replaceable coils are cheaper in the long run
  • Easy to use
  • Fully adjustable airflow
  • Haptic feedback
  • Window visible on both sides
  • Three coil options
  • Expected better battery life from specs (750 mAh)
  • Could use a warning vibration before the battery is empty

CONCLUSION

Simply put, Uwell nailed it with the G2. Unless you’re already happy with the A2 or KOKO 2 and don’t care about adjustable airflow or replaceable coils, the G2 is a big upgrade. With sleek design, haptic feedback, airflow control, and versatile coil options, it’s the best Caliburn yet—and a great pick for both seasoned vapers and those looking to switch from smoking.
