Voopoo Argus Air: The Best Beginner-Friendly Vape with Pro Features?

The Voopoo Argus Air is a versatile AIO pod system with two pod options: one with replaceable PnP coils and a disposable pod with built-in coils. Both hold 3.8mL, making them ideal for nicotine salts. It supports direct lung vaping with PnP coils (0.6Ω or higher).

Featuring an airflow system like the Vinci Air, you can adjust airflow by rotating the pod 180°. Powered by the Gene chip, it offers safety features, a 900mAh battery, USB-C fast charging, and adjustable wattage (1-25W).

Build quality and design

The Voopoo Argus Air is lightweight at 68g with a pod and 54g without—heavier than the Caliburn but lighter than the original Nord. It features a USB-C port on the bottom and comes in seven colors, with vintage brown and carbon fiber as standout options.

Its design resembles the Nord but with leather and gunmetal accents, measuring 95.3mm x 31.4mm x 19.3mm. Compact yet noticeable in-pocket, it boasts solid build quality for its price. The kit includes two pods: a 1.2Ω non-replaceable coil and a 0.6Ω replaceable coil. The adjustable airflow allows both MTL and restricted lung hits, and a bright LED screen enhances usability.

Getting started

Using the disposable pod is simple—just fill and drop it in. The other pod works like Nord-style pods, with press-fit PnP coils inserted from the bottom. Filling is easy via a rubber-sealed port that fits fine-tip and regular droppers; tilting helps guide the liquid. The tinted pods allow visibility of juice levels and are securely held by strong magnets.

The Argus Air operates with a single button. It auto-detects coil resistance and adjusts wattage on startup but not during coil swaps, so be mindful to avoid burning fresh coils. Locking or turning off the device requires navigating the menu, which can lead to accidental firing. The LED screen displays wattage, coil resistance, puff count, vape duration, and a clear battery indicator.

Here is a rundown on how to use the Argus Air:

    • Five clicks to turn the device on
    • Three clicks to access wattage adjustment
    • Wattage round robins from 1-25 watts
    • Hold the fire button to lock in your setting
    • When on, five clicks to access the menu
    • Press the fire button to cycle through the options
    • Hold the fire button to select: lock, power off, puff clear and exit
    • When locked, click the fire button five times to unlock

Performance

The Argus Air kit includes two pods, each pre-installed with a different coil. I also purchased the RBA head to try out, because why not?

0.8-ohm integrated MTL coil - rated for 12-18 watts

0.6-ohm PnP-TM1 mesh coil - rated for 20-25 watts

The Argus Air features dual-firing (button and draw activation), which caught me off guard at first. While great for MTL vaping, it’s less effective for direct lung hits.

I first tested the 0.8Ω MTL coil in the disposable pod. Flavor was solid after a short break-in period, but the pod developed a plastic taste initially. The MTL setting offered a tight draw and decent throat hit with 30mg menthol. However, after sitting for a week, the pod flooded and the coil failed, highlighting the downside of fixed-coil pods—they only last a week or two.

The 0.6Ω mesh coil delivered better flavor and a looser draw, making it ideal for 25mg nicotine salts. It also handled 3mg e-liquids well, though I prefer sub-ohm tanks for that. The vape was cooler with more airflow, minimal throat hit, and solid cloud production at 25W.

No major issues with leaking, spitting, or popping on pre-built coils, though the RBA had some problems. The 0.6Ω coil lasted well over a week despite heavy use with dessert flavors.

Battery life and charging

The Argus Air has a 900mAh battery with an on-screen indicator. Once it hits one bar, recharge ASAP, as it lacks passthrough charging.

Power remains consistent until the battery is low. With a 1.0Ω coil, a full charge lasts nearly a full pod, though battery life varies by coil.

Charging takes about 75 minutes—not bad for its capacity, but passthrough vaping would have been a useful addition.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Clever adjustable airflow system
  • Bright OLED screen
  • Compatible with PnP coil heads and RBA (>0.6 ohms)
  • Good coil longevity
  • Coils provide nice flavor

CONCLUSION

The Argus Air is a versatile AIO with a 900mAh battery, 3.8mL capacity, and broad coil compatibility, including an RBA option for advanced users. PnP coils are widely available, adding convenience.

A second button for wattage adjustment would be a nice addition. While I’m not a fan of disposable pods, my issue may have been due to leaving it full for too long. Overall, the Argus Air is a well-built, stylish, and affordable AIO with great functionality.
