First impressions

The SWAG II is just what I expected—a compact mod blending the original SWAG with Vaporesso’s GEN design. While I’m not a fan of Pico-style mods, their small size is popular. It features a 0.91-inch OLED screen and a GEN-like coating. The kit includes the NRG PE tank, compatible with Vaporesso’s long-standing GT coils. Overall, it’s a sleek and handy setup.

Build quality and design

The SWAG II is a well-built, lightweight mod with a solid feel. It features a round fire button above the screen, a mode button below, and up/down buttons on the side. The battery loads from the top via a smooth-threaded cap, limiting atomizers to 25mm. The 510 pin works flawlessly.

I got the black version with a matte finish, but the red looks even better. The design is clean, with a soft GEN-style coating and a comfortable flask-like shape. Branding is minimal, and there’s no button rattle. Overall, it’s a sleek, compact mod with great color options.

Features and functions

The SWAG II is loaded with features, including Power mode (soft, normal, hard), Temp Control (SS, Ni200, Ti, TCR), Watt Curve (VPC), VV, Super Player, and Bypass mode, all found under the DIY menu. It also offers ECO mode (battery saver), Pulse mode, and Smart TC. The TCR is fully adjustable, except in presets, making it highly versatile—though some may find the options overwhelming.

One quirk is the reversed up/down buttons, which correct when the screen is flipped. Vaporesso lists a 2A charge rate, but my test showed a max of 0.93A. It does display remaining charge time, but external charging is still recommended.

Using the Vaporesso SWAG II

As far as the menu goes, it’s just like the GEN. It’s straightforward and very easy to use. Here is a quick rundown.

    • Five clicks of the fire button to turn on and off
    • Three clicks of menu (or hold menu) to enter the menu
    • Use up and down to scroll through the menu and click menu to accept
    • Use fire when in the menu to return to the home screen
    • Hold fire and menu to see chip version

Power mode performance

The SWAG II is powered by Vaporesso’s latest AXON chip, continuing the brand’s reputation for high-quality performance.

I tested the mod using Sony VTC5A batteries. While Vaporesso lists the max wattage at 80W without specifying amp or volt limits, my tests reached 85W, making it a solid performer—possibly even slightly underrated.

The SWAG II delivers solid performance with a 29A limit, which is good for a single 18650 mod. It reached a 7.258V limit with a 0.62-ohm coil, confirming the presence of a boost circuit.

It adjusts in 0.1W increments but scrolls by 1W when held—useful, though 0.1W steps feel unnecessary above 20W. The mod stays cool during use and remains mostly accurate, only struggling slightly under 0.2 ohms. Between 0.2 and 0.62 ohms, it performs exceptionally well, sometimes hitting a bit high. Overall, a strong and reliable mod.

Temperature control performance

Using SS316L Wire in SS mode and TCR mode, I tested four builds.

One simple round single coil

One simple round dual coil

Two fancy wire single-coil builds

NRG PE tank rundown

The NRG PE is the latest in Vaporesso’s NRG tank series, using long-standing GT coils and compatible with Baby Beast-style coils. It includes a 0.15Ω GT4 double mesh coil (60-70W) and a 0.6Ω SS CCELL ceramic coil (25-35W).

With a 3.5mL capacity and no spare glass, the tank features a slide-back top-fill, though it’s a bit loose and tricky with larger bottles. It has a standard 510 Delrin drip tip and a smooth, adjustable AFC ring.

Performance-wise, the 0.15Ω coil works best at 60-65W with decent flavor, while the CCELL coil is efficient at 30W but slightly weaker in taste. Overall, the NRG PE is an average tank—functional but not impressive.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Good build quality
  • Four color options
  • Accurately rated for watts
  • Good power mode performance
  • Nice centered 510 pin
  • Handles 25 mm atomizers
  • Affordably priced
  • High amp limit
  • Watt curve mode
  • Variable voltage modes
  • TC performance is not good
  • Included tank performance is just decent
  • No listed ratings for volts or amps
  • 2-amp charging rate is really 1 amp

CONCLUSION

Vaporesso did a solid job with the mod, though its TC performance falls short. If you like Pico-style mods, this one outshines Eleaf’s offerings. It’s a great choice for non-TC vapers needing a compact single-18650 mod, but I’d skip the kit—the tank isn’t impressive.
