Is the VAPORESSO ARMOUR MAX Worth It? Full Review & Tests

VAPORESSO ARMOUR MAX is the brand’s first rugged mod, powered by dual 21700 batteries and the latest AXON chip. It features a 0.96-inch screen, a lockable power button, and a shockproof rubberized finish. Available as a kit, it includes the iTank 2 with a protective rubber glass cover.

The VAPORESSO ARMOUR MAX kit is the brand’s latest release, marking their first rugged mod. While it lacks an IP rating for water resistance, it’s built to withstand drops, competing with Geekvape’s Aegis line. This dual-battery mod supports up to 220W and works with 2×700 or 18650 batteries (with an adapter). It comes with the iTANK 2, using GTi coils found in previous VAPORESSO kits. A smaller single-battery version, the ARMOUR MAX S, offers 100W but shares the same design.

First impressions

ARMOUR MAX Limited Edition comes in a large, stylish box with extras like three extra coils and a tactical belt holster. The mod features a durable rubberized design, a lock slider that doubles as a power button, and a protective rubber cover for the iTANK 2.

Despite its compact size for a dual 2×700 mod, it’s solid and weighs 414.3g with batteries and a full tank. The bottom-loading battery door opens with a button and secures with a hinge. Simple branding adds to its clean look, making it a well-designed, rugged kit.

Build quality and design

The ARMOUR MAX feels solid and well-built, with no rattling parts. It’s heavy, durable, and designed to withstand drops. The recessed screen, flush buttons, and lock slider add protection. After some rough handling, it still looked new and functioned perfectly—great for clumsy users.

Red octagonal fire button doubles as a lock slider, preventing accidental firing in pockets. Below it, the 0.96-inch color screen displays key info, with a horizontal layout on the MAX and vertical on the MAX S. The centered 510 pin ensures ambidextrous use.

Available in five colors, the design features black rubber with textured color accents and a red fire button. The yellow version resembles Bumblebee from Transformers. The mod’s base has a softer grip, and the accents show no wear over time, maintaining its tactical look.

Features and functions

The ARMOUR MAX offers multiple modes—perhaps more than necessary today. It includes three power modes (F{t}, Eco, and Pulse) and three temp control modes (Ni, Ti, SS). While temp control has faded in popularity, it’s nice to see options for those who still use it.

Eco mode is the standard power mode, Pulse enhances flavor, and F{t} stabilizes hits like a pseudo-TC mode. A Smart feature recommends wattage for GTi coils, but I prefer manual control. For temp control, SS316 and a TCR mode would be more practical than Ni and Ti.

One standout feature is the slide-locking power button. It’s a mechanical lock—reliable and easy to use—making pocketing worry-free without extra software or buttons.

Using the ARMOUR MAX

As far as usage goes, the ARMOUR MAX is a pretty typical mod. There is a fire button, up and down buttons, and, of course, the sliding power button lock, which I’ve mentioned probably too many times. Basic operations are as follows:

Click fire five times to turn it on/off.

Use up or down to adjust wattage and or temp.

Click fire three times to enter the menu.

In power mode, down and fire lets you swap Smart mode on/off.

In TC mode, cycle through wattage to change from F to C.

In TC mode, use fire and up to adjust wattage.

iTANK 2 tank rundown

The iTANK 2 is nearly identical to the one from my TARGET 200 review, with the main difference being the fill mechanism. Instead of a slide-back top, it now features a button-release top, similar to the Geekvape Alpha tank. Designed for DL vaping, it performs best between 50-85 watts.

The kit includes two coil options, the same ones I tested previously. The 0.15-ohm coil isn’t included but is now available separately.

A GTi 0.2-ohm mesh coil rated 60-75 watts (included)

A GTi 0.4-ohm mesh coil rated 50-60 watts (included)

Both coils perform well with impressive longevity (80-88mL). The 0.2-ohm coil offers slightly better flavor, while the 0.4-ohm option helps conserve battery life.

Overall, this is one of the better kit tanks—unlike many kits that include average tanks, the iTANK 2 is a solid sub-ohm option with quality coils.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Great build quality
  • Good durability for not being an IP rated mod
  • Compact for a dual 2x700 mod
  • Βright color screen
  • Lock slider on power button is a great feature
  • Can change screen colors
  • Great battery door
  • Good power mode performance
  • No watt curve option
  • Some unnecessary modes that don’t add much
  • Naming of the power modes should be clearer
  • 80-watt limit on TC

CONCLUSION

The ARMOUR MAX is a durable, dual-battery mod perfect for advanced vapers who don’t mind a larger device. The included tank is excellent, which is rare in kits. For a smaller option, the single-battery ARMOUR MAX S offers the same tank and is just as recommendable.
