2025 Voopoo Argus GT Review – Real Test Results & Expert Opinion

The Argus GT Kit is Voopoo’s latest release, aiming to bring the brand back to form after a mix of hits and misses since the success of their original Drag mod.

The kit includes the dual-18650 Argus GT mod (160W) and the PnP Pod Tank, which uses an adapter to mimic a traditional sub-ohm tank. It’s compatible with Voopoo’s widely used PnP coil series, also found in devices like the Vinci and Argus Air.

First impressions

After testing pods for a while, it’s refreshing to see mod-and-tank kits like the Argus GT return. Unlike Voopoo’s bulky Drag mods, the Argus GT is lightweight, ergonomic, and comfortable to hold.

Its design takes cues from the Geekvape Aegis line, featuring a sleek frame with leather or fabric backing. Paired with the PnP Pod Tank, it offers a smart hybrid between a pod and a traditional tank—simple to use, yet versatile with a 510 adapter.

Build quality and design

The Argus GT is well-built and styled like the Geekvape Aegis mods, though it lacks IP67 protection. Despite its rugged look, it’s lightweight at just 105g (197g with batteries) and feels solid in hand.

It features a responsive rectangular fire button above a bright color screen, likely 0.96 inches, with simple navigation buttons below. The USB-C port is tucked behind a rubber plug on the side.

Compact for a dual-18650 mod, it’s similar in size to the Drag 2. The 510 connection is solid, though its offset placement causes slight overhang with 26 mm tanks. A 24 mm atomizer fits perfectly.

The Argus GT comes in five color options, all mostly black with different frame and leather colors. I received the Vintage Grey, which looks great overall—though I’m not a fan of the shiny speckled finish on the frame, as it makes the mod look dirty.

Branding is minimal and tasteful, with small etched “Voopoo” and “Argus” logos. The bottom-latch battery door works smoothly, fits flush, and there’s no button rattle. Aside from the speckle design, it’s a stylish and well-built mod.

Temperature control performance

Using SS316L wire and in SS mode, I tested four builds:

One simple round single coil

One simple round dual coil

One fancy wire single coil

One fancy wire dual coil

The Argus GT supports temperature control, but it’s capped at 80 watts and struggled with more demanding dual-coil builds. It’s best suited for TC setups under 60 watts.

Voopoo still uses a non-standard TCR (default 1300 for SS), which makes tuning tricky. While I occasionally got decent results, TC performance was inconsistent and required constant adjustments—usable, but not reliable enough to recommend.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

  • Good build quality
  • Nice leather backing
  • Lightweight and comfy in hand
  • Compact for a dual-18650 mod
  • Five color options
  • Nice 510 pin
  • Large clear color screen
  • Battery door is sturdy and works well
  • Weird speckle paint job makes mod look dirty
  • TC mode doesn't work well
  • Non-standard TC setting
  • Removed some basic modes of older chips (VPC / Volt mode)
  • Poor rating for watts and volts

CONCLUSION

Overall, the Argus GT is a step back for Voopoo. While it’s compact, lightweight, and visually appealing (aside from the speckled finish), its performance doesn’t match the specs. It feels outdated compared to modern mods.

The tank looks good and uses widely compatible coils, but the coil performance is weak. Unless you’re vaping under 70 watts and care more about looks than power, this kit isn’t worth it. Hopefully, Voopoo improves with their next release.
