Popreel P1 Vape Review – A Game Changer for New Vapers?

The Uwell Popreel P1 is a budget-friendly refillable pod vape, debuting as the first in the “P” series. Available in four pastel colors inspired by macarons, it features a lightweight dual-layer plastic build, unlike the aluminum Caliburn A2. It holds 2mL of e-liquid in UN2 meshed-h 1.2Ω pods for a strict MTL draw. While it shares similarities with the Caliburn A2, key differences set it apart.

Build quality and design

The Popreel P1 comes in four pastel colors, including macaron blue, milk white, and apricot beige. While I prefer darker shades, the design still stands out with its dual-layer plastic build and embossed water-wave texture.

Measuring 108.2mm × 22.5mm × 13.2mm and weighing 32g, it’s slightly larger yet lighter than the Caliburn, featuring an auto-draw mechanism with no button. The FeCrAI UN2 meshed-h 1.2Ω pods attach magnetically with a secure fit.

A standout feature is the 3-direction juice window, offering a clear view of e-liquid levels with graduation marks—useful, though tricky to track precisely.

Getting started

The Popreel P1 keeps costs low with its PCTG, PC, and ABS plastic build, which is more durable than the painted aluminum of the Caliburn AK2. While the kit includes only one pod and no charge cord, it does come with an extra top cap for color matching.

The pod caps feature a silicone plug inside—if it pops out, it’s easy to reinsert. Though an extra pod would’ve been nice, the FeCrAI UN2 meshed-h 1.2Ω pods have great longevity.

Filling the pod requires snapping off the cap, similar to the Caliburn, but the rubber seal on the top-fill port can sometimes lead to messy fills. I now fill the pod outside the device or wipe up any spills as needed.

Performance

The Popreel P1 delivers a flavorful and true MTL draw with fast-firing coils, maintaining Uwell’s reputation for quality vapor and taste.

I use freebase e-liquid since salts degrade coils quickly, and I’ve gotten over 30mL from a single UN2 meshed-h 1.2Ω coil. All three pods I tested performed exceptionally, with the coil power balance feeling just right—unlike some Caliburn models that run slightly hot.

The vape is quiet, with a faint airflow hiss. Performance is impressively consistent, and Uwell’s Pro-FOCS tech seems to enhance flavor retention, making each hit satisfying.

Battery life and charging

With a 400mAh battery, the Popreel P1 has less capacity than the Caliburn, but runtime feels solid despite heavy use. Pass-through charging helps, though I don’t find myself charging often.

The slanted battery indicator on the bottom is a small but stylish touch.

Green: Max charge

Blue: Medium charge

Red: Low charge

The 400mAh battery charges in 35-40 minutes via bottom Type-C charging. However, no cable is included, which may be a drawback for some users.

CONCLUSION

The Uwell Popreel P1 has quickly become my favorite device, delivering the best experience with my DIY freebase juice.

It feels like a modernized Caliburn A2 but with a more authentic MTL draw. The pods have lasted through multiple refills with minimal drop in performance, and I’m curious to compare their longevity against Caliburn pods using freebase vs. salts.

With consistent flavor and reliable hits, it reminds me why I love vaping. If you pick one up, do yourself a favor—stick to freebase liquids!
