Innokin Trine Review: Powerful Vaping with EcoDrain and Removable Battery

The Innokin Trine is an innovative pod vape featuring a removable battery and EcoDrain tech for safe battery recycling. It includes two 2mL pods and a 1000mAh proprietary battery, available in six colors.

The Innokin Trine is a refillable pod vape with a detachable, 1000mAh proprietary battery. While not the first pod to feature a removable battery, it stands out with EcoDrain tech, which allows for safe, complete battery discharge for recycling. The Trine combines this innovation with a standard pod vape design, including a screen, button, and airflow slider.

Build quality and design

The Innokin Trine features a simple, sleek design with solid colors, matte metallic finishes, and discreet branding. Its compact, comfortable hand feel fits perfectly, especially with the 1000mAh battery. The battery is easily removable via side release buttons, and reattaching it provides a satisfying click. The clear pods, though slightly tinted, let you check juice levels by tilting the device. The black-and-white screen is easy to read, the button is clicky with an LED, and the airflow slider offers just the right resistance. Overall, the Trine delivers top-notch build quality and design, typical of Innokin

Getting started

The Trine is easy to set up: remove the mouthpiece, fill the pod, and let it sit for five minutes. Three clicks turn the device on/off, and two clicks adjust the wattage in 0.5-watt increments. The device auto-adjusts wattage for each pod, though manual adjustments may be needed for the 0.8-ohm pod. After setting the wattage, simply press the button or inhale to vape. The EcoDrain feature is activated by clicking the button ten times, which slowly drains the battery for safer recycling.

Performance

The Innokin Trine comes with two pods in the box, and there is one more available as a separate purchase:

0.6-ohm Vcap pod (2 mL, best 20-22 watts) – included

0.8-ohm Vcap pod (2 mL, best 12-14 watts) – included

1.2-ohm Vcap pod (2 mL, best 11-12 watts) – available

The 0.6-ohm pods perform best in RDL at 21-22 watts with full airflow, offering a solid vape for mid-strength ejuices. The 0.8-ohm pods are more suited for MTL vaping but benefit from a slight wattage increase to 15 watts and reduced airflow. The 1.2-ohm pod is the best for MTL vaping, delivering smooth flavor with nicotine salts at 13 watts and airflow set to about a quarter open. After two weeks of daily use, coil life seems good, and no issues have been noticed with longevity so far.

Battery life and charging

The removable battery is a standout feature of the Trine, though it’s best not to carry a spare without a case due to safety concerns with lithium-ion batteries. The 1000mAh battery offers solid performance, lasting through 1.5 pods (3 mL) on a charge. Full charging takes about 1 hour 22 minutes, and while a faster charge would be ideal, the 1A charge rate is likely limited by the proprietary battery. The device also supports pass-through vaping, allowing use while plugged in.
